Broadway

Right now on broadway they have "promises promises" playing which is a musical featuring sean hayes from will and grace and Kristin Chenoweth from "my funny valentine". This musical piece depicts chuck baxter an employee at consolidated life insurance who's trying to advance through the company. So to get in good with upper management he lends his apartment for there adultery acts . The plot starts to get interesting when his crush Fran Kubelik becomes the mistress of one of his fellow co workers !

Then theres always the classic " The addams family ". Now if your not familliar with this all you need to know is these are characters created by charles addams. the story takes a turn when they have outsiders over for dinner . I really wouldnt mind seeing this on broadway not only was this a great movie with a subliminal message of striving to explain to people that we must be accepting of others up bringing .

next theres chicago a musical based on murder ,greed and corruption . there 's also violence, exploitation and adultery. all these things paint our town red and causes this to be a very enlightful play . I would love to see this one as well because i dont know how something so nice and wholesome like a musical can have all these undelightful terms expressed in it so i would love to see that brought to life in that aspect .

If you want a different view into the world of musicals why not try avenue Q which is a show with vantriliquist in it . depicts a tale of a man with big dreams and aspirations in new york city but when he arrives the only place he could live is on avenue q. shortly after he finds out that he has some very intresting friends waiting for him in the wing .

Then theres "memphis" a show taken place in the 1950's when a white radio dj uses his love for music to intergrate all the racial communities . The true test is when huey(the radio dj) meet a nice black girl and no longer is his music under pressure but now he is , So he has to decide if the world is truely ready for such a change.

lighting for my play !

Lighting is very important to a wrestling prooduction espicially with the addition of fire works it adds a new dynamic that makes it even more and estravaganza . Espcially with wrestlers entrances the lighting is constantly changing one minute they can be off but in the next frame they can be bright red it just depends on the wrestler .Turning the lights down gives the wrestler all the attention so that there is nothing taking away from his arrival .Its so important that you know by the lighting who is getting ready to enter the arena. but no matter what color the lights change it always goes back to regular you know its time to begin the event .

If I had to make an entrance for myself in my play i would try to mimic it from sting of wcw it would be cold and grim the lights would go dark and i would have slow almost mysterious theme music and i wouldnt need any fireworks i would just have on all black with just a spot light on me and walk to the ring at a slow pace with not much excitement with a cold look on my face and once i got in the ring i would i would just sit on top of the turnbuckle opposite of my opponent and once i sat in the corner the lights would come back on .

Relating theather to my major !

With me being a communications major this is great for business the better and more popular wrestling gets the more there jobs that will become available . If your were to break it down though this wrestling world would not exist without communication graduates . From a marketing stand point you need these people to promote events but what people dont relize is that this is a joint effort from the wrestlers to the commentators . when ever you would see stone cold steve austin in the ring he would most likly have on a stone cold steve austin shirt . I mean they could put it in a commercial but why not just save money and have the superstars wear there own apparel , So when us the fans see them wearing it reinforces the fact that if we want to show how much we like or appreciate the wrestlers why not go buy one of his shirts . Its just not the wrestlers who are benefiting from this major companies get there hand in on it as well snickers, pepsi , Kfc Just to name a few have at one time or another had there name on an event to help reach a new demographic .

You also cant forget the journalist and script writers . These are your real life Gps for our imigination , This is what gives us our direction they let us know when to love a superstar or when to hate a superstar depending on what they choose to write out for a particular wrestler. they keep us on the edge of our seat . They allow us to see into a world that not only depicts athletsicm and body building but they give is a since of passion mixed in with a mix a controversy , followed by a continuing them of victory and defeat. They make up and enhance these identities we build for our favorite wrestlers. They keep the plot and the legacy of a wrestler alive through the way that they manipulate our brains . Ive notices as of late that the wrestling world has also picked up on the recent change of the televison world . recognizing that reality tv is the wave of the present and future so they themselves have added a reality based wrestling show right in the middle of a wrestling broadcast its very neat! its called next where they take eight amatuer wrestlers give them mentors veteran wrestlers. They take these young wrestlers under there wing teach them the ropes of the wwe and they wrestle each other till one emerges as the best and earns a wwe contract . The whole idea of it is that we get to almost watch these wrestlers grow into there potential , Then we have no choice but to accept him into the world of wrestling from watching him claw his way into stardom.

The biggest reason it relates is the fact that wrestling is related to communicaton is the fact that its on television. Tv production is the reason we see the ads on tv someone has to put them up . There has to be someone holding a camera . We need someone directing the event how would they know to cut to commercial how would they know to come back . How would we know when to Cue a certain wrestlers theme music? This is all played in part by a televison production person . The whole world cant fit into the arena to see the live show . This is why we have a production crew so that the wwe or tna whoever it is can reach there majority audience and it is through the television . The bigger your audience gets the more people you need to help reach those people so it is an continous effort of everyone working together to communicate to the world .

The set for my play

Traditionally wrestling starts out in what they call the squared circle which is just a big mat with four corners and padded turnbuckles . As the years progressed the wrestling world started to evolve into a more risky entertainment function, adding more breathtaking matches like the infamous cage match . There is also a match made popular by kane and the undertaker called "inferno match " when the ring is ingulfed with fire and u have to set a part of your opponents body on fire to win. Later came the "ladder match " where you hang the championship title from the rafters and the object is to beat your opponent up enough so that he lays down long enough so you can climb to the top and snatch the title from the top of the rafters. With the emergence of tna wrestling they have changed the squared circle into an octagon. Now having six corners nothing really special about just a new look to the wrestling world!
When i design my set aka ring i would stick to the traditional for corners match I would take it back tho and instead of having a ramp that the wrestlers would walk down i would just have almost like a hover device that glides them down to the ring like in the old wreslemania days I.E hulk hogan , andre the giant . i would also have a special match they use to have barb wire matches where they substitue the ring ropes for barb wire i would have ropes with a small electric current going through it just enough that they feel it not enough to hurt them . The winner would be decided by pinfall so the electric pulses would just be an addition to the pain. It wouldnt really be a deciding factor in the match .

customes for my my play

in wrestling costumes are something that is parrellel to there personalities or a group they are affiliated with. The costume has to appeal to the audience tho never the less one of the most memorable groups were degeneration x which the core of the group was Shawn Micheal's and Triple h and they wore the color lime green which spelled out DX some where on there apparel
or the legion of doom who chose to wear shoulder pads as part of the entrance apparel it almost brought like an intimidation factor to the persona of them . Then there's Bret "The hitman" Hart who had a gimmick for years that never changed that when he came to the ring he would give his sunglasses to a small child at ringside .

A wrestlers ring attire can be very versatile some wrestlers come ready to wrestle in jean shorts or blue jeans . It all just depends on what type of image they are seeking to bring out of the character . You can never go wrong with just making some wrestling underwear and putting your name on them as many wrestlers choose to do. As we tend to move into the future tattoos play a huge role in your appearance as well. It brings a commercial use and advertisement to the sport. Now if you like a character in wrestling to bring yourself closer you can go out and get a similar tattoo if thats what you choose to.
